Workshop Description
This course will address the diagnosis and treatment of De Novo Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's disease can be difficult to diagnose in the early stages, and use of symptomatic and neuroprotective treatments remains controversial. Medical professionals managing this disease need education on the process of accurate diagnosis, assessment of progression, and on how to optimize treatment strategies.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Diagnose Parkinson's disease and other Parkinsonian syndromes
- Know how different clinical features can predict disease progression
- Understand rationale for symptomatic and neuroprotective therapies
- Understand how use of practice parameters can help in choosing treatment options
- Manage non-motor problems in early stage PD
