The Movement Disorder Society strives to provide educational opportunities for our target audience, and is pleased to develop live courses and workshops both throughout the world to an international audience, as well as regionally. These courses and workshops offer instruction in the diagnosis and treatment of various Movement Disorders.

De Novo Parkinson's Disease: Diagnosis and Treatment

This course will address the diagnosis and treatment of De Novo Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's disease can be difficult to diagnose in the early stages, and use of symptomatic and neuroprotective treatments remains controversial. Medical professionals managing this disease need education on the process of accurate diagnosis, assessment of progression, and on how to optimize treatment strategies. This course is recommended for general neurologists, geriatricians and internists.

European Summer School for Young Neurologists

The 3rd annual MDS European Summer School will be taught by an MDS-ES international faculty of senior Movement Disorders specialists. Young neurologists (under the age of 40) from Europe and North Africa who are interested in training in Movement Disorders, as well as those who already have some experience in Movement Disorders are encouraged to apply for a unique, hands-on Summer School experience. In order to maintain an interactive experience, registration will be capped at 48 students. Applications open February 15. The application deadline is April 9.

New Therapies for Advanced Parkinson's Disease

While mainstay Parkinson's disease therapies, such as levodopa or dopamine agonists, provide significant initial benefit to patients, there is increasing need for new therapies for this disorder. This course will combine didactic lecture with workshop, case-based presentations to present a comprehensive overview of new therapies in Parkinson's disease. Intended for Movement Disorder specialists, general neurologists, primary care physicians and junior investigators.

Treatment of Parkinson's Disease

Emphasis will be placed on the management of patients with early stage illness, treatment of non-motor symptoms of PD and management of levodopa complications.
